Table Saw Sled Build

If you search for table saw sled on YouTube, you will find lots of videos on making a sled. Based on a quick view of the offerings, many of them have lots of bell and whistles that may be helpful, or not. I tend to follow the KISS principle, so my sled is very basic. No t-track, built-in stops, etc.

The build is fairly straightforward, but there some key things to keep in mind. Start with a base that is square. Not the “plane figure with four equal sides and four right (90°) angles,” but whatever size rectangle works for you, with four right angles. If the opposite pairs of edges are parallel, measure the diagonals to ensure they are equal.

Some other things to ensure a good sled: good fit of the runners and a straight, flat fence. What’s left is careful assembly. A good, square sled is invaluable. Spend the time necessary to get it right and you’ll be a happy woodworker.
