Mitered Box Delay

Video delayed this week; I’m just returning from Oregon after purchasing a travel trailer. We (my wife and I) have been planning to buy a trailer for a while and I’ve been watching RV Trader listings since last fall. A listing was posted last Sunday night that fit the bill. I was the first to contact the seller and his philosophy was first contact/first served – lucky me! A friend in Bend did the preliminary check-out for us and I drove up over two days, arriving Wednesday evening. My brother drove down from Washington to help out and we met the seller Thursday morning. The trailer is a 2019 Lance 1995 and I’m towing it with our 2020 Ford Ranger. We rented a 17-foot trailer a few months ago to test out towing with the truck, but this has been the real test.

We camped south of Bend Thursday night and my brother helped me check everything out. He’s owned several RV’s and knows much more about these things than me. The trailer wasn’t used much and everything worked great. It has some nice options and included pretty much everything we needed to camp – cooking gear, bedding, cleaning supplies, and more. I couldn’t be happier.

Friday morning I started the 800-mile drive back to Los Angeles. Initially, handling was a bit squirrelly, but after some tweaks to the truck tire pressure and the weight distribution hitch, all is good.

The mitered box trays are almost done and I have started editing the video, but I need another few hours to finish things up. That won’t happen until Monday the 23rd at the earliest.

That is exciting Carl congratulations . I am surprised a Ford ranger is able to tow? Looking forward to hear about your camping adventure

    • Thanks Tony. We bought the Ranger because it has the highest tow capacity of the midsize trucks – 7000 lbs. The max trailer weight is 6200, but I’m hoping to keep it under 5500. Things started out a little squirrelly, but after getting more air in the truck tires and tweaking the weight distribution hitch, it towed really well.

That is wonderful Carl. I am sure you and Lindsey will get a lot of enjoynet out of that trailer. Sounds like a perfect fit. The last time I camp was at twin Lakes up past Bodie on 395. Nice camp grounds and the finishing on the stream between the two lakes was great. Nice trout. Thank you for sharing that with us. Paul

The critical comment was “I couldn’t be happier.” While I hope that includes wife, I am (and I’m sure others) only wish you all of the happiness in world.
