Dining Chair Progress Report

I took a break in April as my wife and I took a four-week road trip. We took our trailer up Hwy 395 on the east side of California, through Bishop and Reno, up into Oregon, then on to the Palouse area of Washington and into Spokane, where we met with family and friends in that area. We came back down through Portland, headed back to the 395 via Medford (more family) and Lassen, hoping to get to Trona Pinnacles near Death Valley to photograph the Milky Way. High winds predicted there forced us back across the Sierras and we returned home a couple of days ahead of schedule. We had weather on the trip from snow and 16 F to sunny days in the low 80’s, quite the range!

I’m back working on the dining chairs. They have two coats of an oil-varnish blend on them now, and I’ll apply one or two more before starting the Danish cord seats. I’ll post another video when the first one is complete, which should be in the next couple of weeks. I may submit one of the chairs to the woodworking competition at the Orange County Fair.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions for future videos, please leave a comment.

Been wanting to know how to do danish cord. Video or a video or two you would recommend. Sounds like you had great trip and are learning the meaning of retirement.
