December 2024

So sorry for not posting for a while. Since my last update we had contractors demo’ing and replacing 70′ of a 100-year-old retaining wall, had 120′ of vinyl fencing installed, spent three weeks on the road travelling to Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, and spent another two weeks in Costa Rica on a photography tour. All that while nursing my ailing knee, for which I will have surgery in two days to replace the mating surfaces of my right medial condyle joint (partial knee replacement).

I’m getting around reasonably well on level ground, but stairs and steep inclines are a challenge. All this despite having surgery on the same knee in April to repair a torn meniscus. Turns out that my current orthopedist (not the one who did the April surgery) doesn’t attempt meniscus repair on people over 40 – not enough blood flow to really get things to heal correctly…

A knee replacement in April seemed pretty extreme, but in hindsight (always 20/20) that would have been the right choice. If only…

I’ll be recovering for a bit so I’m not sure when I’ll post next. Hopefully In February at the latest.

Thanks for your patience and have a merry Christmas!

    Carl,
I hope that you and yours are doing well. Sorry to hear about the knee. I am headed down that road right now. Waiting to set up an appointment until after the holidays. Getting old sucks, but it is better than the alternative!
I talked to Tony F the other day and asked about a bench building class. He told me that wasn’t happening since Carl retired.
    Happy Holidays !
    John

    Merry Christmas.
getting old is not for the faint of heart. Good luck with the surgery. I’m still fighting with my hip. Going to check into PRP procedure.

    Take care

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to you and your bride also. FYI. Had a torn meniscus (3 places) repaired in my 60’s – still feel it in cold weather. Bless you and your bride always.
